Puerto Rico: A Love Letter in 42 Photographs (El Yunque National Forest)

El Yunque National Forest is the only tropical rain forest in the United States. Located in the northeast part of Puerto Rico, the rainforest is a popular hiking destination and the center for conservation efforts on the island. Many of the trees and foliage seen here was obliterated by Hurricane Maria.

Before you visit, make sure to check the Forest Service website linked above to check on possible closures. El Yunque will take some time to get back to its former glory, but when it does it will be a must-visit on your trip to Puerto Rico.

What’s your favorite activity in El Yunque?
